Jaume Domènech: "Valencia CF is my home, my life. This farewell has been incredible, and I’ll carry it with me forever"

The Valencia CF captain in his farewell from Mestalla after 10 years as a first-team player for the club
In the summer of 2013, Jaume Domènech arrived at the Ciudad Deportiva as a signing for VCF Mestalla. His performances and professionalism led to his debut with the first team on September 12, 2015, at El Molinón against Sporting Gijón. From that moment on, he has spent 10 years filled with sentiment, bravery, and brotherhood—embodying the VCF DNA that so deeply defines the club and its players.
Domènech is the goalkeeper with the eleventh most official appearances (122) in Valencia CF first team history. He played a crucial role in winning the Copa del Rey in 2019 and reaching the final again in 2022. Additionally, he has been one of the team's captains, one of the most beloved players in the squad, and a role model for the young talents coming through the VCF Academy.

However, the time to say goodbye has arrived. After the final whistle against Athletic Club, the emotion of the occasion was clearly visible on the goalkeeper's face. The team waited for him at the centre of the pitch at Mestalla, and the ovation from the fans grew louder and louder. The stadium rose in unison to honour the player from Almenara, offering a heartfelt tribute to his career at the club and his deep-rooted Valencianista spirit.

It was a moment I never thought would come. Because this is my home, it’s been my life. For 12 years, my existence has been based on representing Valencia CF in every way I could, and this is a very special moment. I have many mixed emotions and lots of memories that make the situation a bit difficult, but I’m very happy about everything I’ve experienced during my time here, about how I’ve been able to represent the team, all the teammates I've had, and all the fans. I’m proud to have known everyone. I think it was the right time to temporarily part ways. You can never expect something of this magnitude. It’s something I’ll carry with me for my entire life, and I’m very, very, very happy,” said Domènech to VCF Media after the match against the Basque side.
